Bataan now ‘drug cleared’ – Col. Velasco

Bataan is now considered “drug cleared” although there are still some arrests the local police drug enforcement unit (DEU) made in the whole province. “Cleared po tayo sa ngayon pero pag may mga nagsibalik at bagong monitored kailangang mahuli or mag undergo ng reformation para hindi po tayo ma-revert sa drug affected status,” said Police Col. Romell A. Velasco, Bataan police director.

As per PNP record, Bataan has 231 drug cleared barangays, and six drug free barangays. Velasco said the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) are actively involved in the implementation of drug awareness, preventive, education and information program and processing desks for voluntary and compulsory drug treatment and rehabilitation.

For a barangay to be considered drug cleared, it needs to establish total absence of drug dens or laboratories, as well as zero drug users, pushers, dependents, protectors and financiers, according to DDB Board Resolution No.4, series of 2021.
